Learning
At Edgeworth Public School, we follow the curriculum guidelines of the NSW Department of Education, ensuring every child engages with a broad and balanced education. The Key Learning Areas (KLAs) form the foundation of our programs, outlining what students are expected to learn and supporting us to deliver consistent, high-quality teaching across all stages.
Our teachers plan and deliver engaging lessons that are adjusted to meet the diverse needs of our learners. We provide the right level of support and challenge so that every child is encouraged to participate, progress, and achieve success.
Students also have opportunities to extend their learning through a variety of enrichment programs, challenges, and extracurricular activities that inspire curiosity and creativity.

At Edgeworth Public School, we are committed to nurturing the unique talents and abilities of our High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) students through exceptional, evidence-based practices. Our approach is grounded in explicit teaching and high-quality differentiation, ensuring that all students are engaged, challenged, and supported to reach their full potential.
In our classrooms, teachers implement carefully designed differentiation strategies that provide opportunities for students to engage in surface, deep, and transfer tasks. This layered approach allows every learner to ‘lift and stretch,’ promoting higher-order thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills across all learning domains-academic, social, emotional, and creative.
Beyond the classroom, we offer withdrawal enrichment programs that enable HPGE students to collaborate with like-minded peers in stimulating academic environments. These opportunities further extend their learning and foster a sense of community among learners.
At Edgeworth Public School, we value the unique strengths of our HPGE students and are committed to providing challenging and enriching learning experiences in all areas.

Our learning approach
Our school uses explicit teaching. This means we clearly tell students what they are learning, why it is important and how to do it step by step. Explicit teaching helps students understand new ideas by breaking them into smaller parts.
Learning at our school is student-centred, inclusive and practical. We are committed to equity and access. We support all learning styles and needs. Our teachers use proven teaching strategies. They take part in ongoing professional development to stay up to date with best teaching practice.
Our learning approach includes:
- real-world learning: hands-on tasks, group work and exploring new ideas
- technology: to help students learn and build digital skills
- flexible teaching: the right support for each student, with a focus on wellbeing
- community connections: through excursions and local programs.
